MIDLIFE MALE EXCELLENT ADVENTURE #2

XPT-Certified Pool Training at Shadow Sanctuary
June 26-28th 2026

There are weekends you forget. And there are weekends you talk about for the next ten years. This is the second kind. We rented out a private performance property outside Houston with an Olympic-style pool, Nordic sauna, cold plunges, and zero public access. No crowds. No random people floating around on noodles. Just us. For three days, you’ll train in a way most guys never get the chance to. You’ll eat like you’re at a five-star restaurant, with our personal private chef. You’ll recover like a pro. And you’ll go home with stories that don’t involve sitting at a bar staring at a TV.

THE SETTING

Shadow Sanctuary is 20 minutes outside Houston and feels like something you shouldn’t have access to.

Private Olympic pool.
Nordic sauna.
Cold plunge tubs.
Wide open Texas sky.

It’s the kind of place you’d expect an NFL player or UFC fighter to rent out in the offseason.

For one weekend, it’s ours.

WHAT WE’RE ACTUALLY DOING

This isn’t spa day pool time.

This is new-school performance training done in water that is highly doable with a moderate level of fitness. We’re not forging the next generation of SEALs here. But we are challenging ourselves with a unique, fun water training regiment most men never get to experience.

Heavy resistance work in the pool.
Sprint intervals.
Underwater challenges.
Breath control work.
Contrast therapy between rounds.

It’s demanding without wrecking your joints. It’s competitive without being stupid. And it feels different than anything you’re doing right now in your normal gym routine. It’s the change of pace you need.

You’ll finish sessions smoked, laughing, and ready to do it again.

WHY THIS IS DIFFERENT

Most guys our age either:

A) Lift the same way they did at 28 and hope nothing tears
B) Quit training hard altogether
C) Think “recovery” means stretching for six minutes

This is something else.

It’s athletic and technical. It’s fun and interesting.
And very few men ever get access to it.

A NOTE FROM GREG

“These are the exact pool workouts I’ve used to get in the best shape of my life. They’ve improved my conditioning, mobility, and ability to handle stress without wrecking my body. I recover faster. I think more clearly. I feel stronger. This is where I train, and this is how I train. I’m looking forward to doing it together.”

If you’ve read the Definitive Guide to Maximizing Midlife, you know the philosophy: clarity, standards, and consistent execution. This weekend is a live version of that.

FAQ: How good of a swimmer do I need to be?

You do not have to be an expert swimmer, but you do need to know how to swim. You need to be comfortable in the water and underwater. You will progress from a beginner level to as far as you're comfortable with. The entire workout is scalable to your swimming level.
